SK Hynix China says it is verifying details after online flagship store shutdown notice

Consumers noticed on Aug. 24 that the homepage of the “SKhynix Flagship Store” had posted a notice saying it plans to cease operations on Sept. 9, 2026, with all products already removed from sale. By Aug. 25, the store could no longer be directly found through search on Taobao. Public records show the shop had mainly sold SK Hynix-branded consumer solid-state drives, and listed Tianjin Hailishi Technology Co., Ltd. as its operating entity. According to Tianyancha, the company was registered in July 2020 with registered capital of RMB 1 million, and its business scope includes technical services and electronics sales. Public corporate registration data does not show equity ownership, control, or direct affiliation with SK Hynix headquarters or its China unit. In comments to China Newsweek, SK Hynix China said the “SKhynix Flagship Store” was not directly operated by the company. It added that the reason for the closure, the operating or authorization status of other related e-commerce stores, and warranty arrangements for historical orders are still being checked internally and with relevant parties, and that it has no more information to provide for now. The development has revived speculation about whether SK Hynix is scaling back its consumer storage business, after market rumors in January claimed the company planned to stop making consumer storage products and exit consumer DRAM and NAND. On Jan. 14, an SK Hynix representative publicly denied that claim.
